Glenn Vilppu's Basic Figure and Anatomy class just wrapped up this past Tuesday over at the Animation Guild. Great class, but what else would you expect from Vilppu. Poses in the class ranged from 2 mins - 1 hour. He does a good amount of demos, either by drawing on a tablet PC which is projected on a screen or traditionally with various media.
I haven't drawn in a classical style for quite some time so it was nice to get back into thinking about the actual anatomy.
(sorry for the odd quality, I had to photograph them)
If Glenn's name doesn't ring a bell you can find out more about him, his classes, and all of the learning materials he offers at
All caught up with Drawing Club posts, I skipped the 18th because CTN hosted a screening of the Illusionist and the 25th was Thanksgiving so they didn't have one. Only one session left for 2010. Oh man is 2011 here already... geez
Goodness, it feels like forever since I last posted, sorry for the gap. I have a stack of backed up figure drawing in queue to scan but in the mean time here are some things from the sketchbook.
A friend of mine recommended that I try going over my sketches again with tracing paper to figure out the shape language. I think over all these turned out much more successful than the originals - and it allowed me to tweak some things. (Highly recommend trying this out yourself)
Any time I think of Marcelo I think of his huge warm smile and his bubbling over love of sketching. I think I captured a little of his essence.
Nothing but love and happy thoughts Moe! Get better ASAP, We miss ya!
This was for a "Get Well card."
I'm sure happy thoughts, warm words and well wishes would expedite his recovery. So if anyone feels inclined, stop by his blog and let him know how much he's loved and how awesome he is! :]
Sorry for the absence, I have been incredibly busy. Had some new (Amazing!) projects pop up and took a detour to Indiana. That's why there are two weeks missing below.
Started a new round of classes (this time all figurative) at the Animation Guild. Here are the results from Mark McDonnell's Gesture drawing class. I LOVE IT!!! If my memory serves me right these are 2min, 3min, 5min, and possibly 7s(?) We focus on super short poses which makes it really challenging and really fun. Some of the more elaborate ones are poses I really enjoyed and had to take further :]

Whew, one update down. A lot more work to scan/photograph, so more to come!
Sorry for my tardiness, finally got around to scanning in my sketches from Drawing Club last Thrusday with Marissa Gomez as Annie Oakley. Good news though, I have officially moved! I think my books account for 50% of everything I own, another 25% would be art supplies and maybe a max of 2% clothing.
I have my priorities straight :P
Finally taking a crack at my tiny toned sketchbook. Here are the first couple pages, I'm aiming to get more interaction scenes. I'm in the process of getting ready to move so I haven't been sketching as much in it. September is going to be a BUSY month, Bring it! :D
