Zoo Day!

Here's a little something from today's LA Zoo trip. The people were some warm ups I did sitting in the chairs near the zoo entrance. As far as the animal drawings go, recently I've been becoming more and more relaxed when I sketch. I used to kind of tense up and rush myself but now I'm taking more time to analyze the anatomy and specifically take note of the underlying structures; like muscle shapes and joint connections. Great day.

Your zebra is great, but I have to say I'm most impressed with the apes- they were quite uncooperative when it came to posing for us artists. Your meerkats are loads of fun too!

Katie: I like the direction of the apes too, I made them a little more comical and playful than normal and I think I like that approach cause they're kind of crazy anyway. Those meerkats need a diet, they're getting a little gooey haha :]

Thomas: Thanks! (and thanks for your blog I LOVE it)

Pablo: Thank ya! I can't wait to go back next week. Looks like the girls and I are going to try and make it a weekly thing while we're unemployed. But if nothing else we're going to try and go once a month. Who doesn't love animals! :]

Wonderful sketches as usual Kendra! I really like how the gestures of the people remind of something out of Roald Dahl!
